PURITY OF THE MIND (Part 3 of 3)

THE WORLD OF THE UNGODLY

The first worldwide judgment came because the thoughts of the people were evil continually.  If you don’t live a holy life it is possible that already the judgment of God may be upon you.  “And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually” (Gen 6:5).  For this, God decided to send the judgment of the great flood.  In Noah’s time, The Holy Spirit was not given to the people, the church was not established, there was no Bible and there was no pastor or priest.  If at that time God’s judgment came because thoughts were evil, how much more today?  After receiving all these blessed truths, if we live an unclean life, what a terrible judgment we will face!  Perhaps the sickness you are facing or that great problems in your life is the judgment of God.  Repent and turn to God.  Today it is possible God may stop that judgment.

THE POWER OF THE SON

One man of God says, “God is able to save us from the gutter-most to the uttermost.”  You may be right down deep in the gutter.  Foul smelling and filthy but God can change you.  There is a story about a dirty drop of water in the gutter.  It was so filthy, emanating such a foul smell, and disgusting to look at.  One early morning the dirty drop of water looked to the top of a mountain, and saw a dew drop fall so fresh, so clear.  And when the sunshine came it shined with brilliant colors.  Then the gutter water thought, “Oh, God, look at me.  I’m deep down in the gutter, so foul smelling, dark, and filthy.  Look at that dew drop so pure and clean, and the sun shining on it so brightly.  Can I ever become like that dew drop?”  Then that very same sunshine that was upon the mountain also came shinning in the gutter too.  Slowly that gutter drop of water evaporated and it became vapour and went right up.  The next morning it came as a dew drop on the mountain top.  Naturally we know that happens; but maybe you are that gutter water—absolutely filthy, having unclean thoughts, dreams, imaginations, and feelings.  Yet, there is hope for you in Jesus.  If the sunshine of this world can transform the gutter water into dew drop, how much more can the Sun of the Righteousness change you?  As king David prayed, “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”  Will you love purity today?  “He that hath this hope in him, purifieth himself even as He is pure.”

A few years ago, a member of our church went in a vision to heaven, and saw many glorious places.  He was brought to a place where there was brilliant glory for the saints.  The Lord then took him to another place.  The door was marked: “Those who suffer with Him, shall reign with Him.”  When this door was opened, he saw so many saints who had suffered for the Lord, gloriously shinning like millions of suns shining brightly together.  Then the Lord told the brother, “I will take you to another place brighter than this.”  He could hardly believe that there could be any such place.  He was brought to a door with the inscription, “Those who have only pure thoughts will enter here.”  That appeared to be the highest place.  The door was opened and, lo and behold, a beloved pastor who had entered glory was there on a big throne, waving his hands and smiling.

CALLED UNTO HOLINESS

Over a hundred years ago, Queen Victoria of England told the British people, “go and conquer all of Africa.”  Hearing that call, the British people, mainly young men, risking malaria and wild beasts, went and conquered many of the African countries.  Some of them died of malaria and others were eaten by wild beasts; but when Queen Victoria challenged them to go and conquer, so many young people offered their live.  Now the King of kings and the Lord of lords is calling.  How many are able to fight and conquer thoughts?  How many people will venture to do that?  Why don’t you fight for the kingdom of God?  If this corrupt world has to be changed, it is not through the preachers.  Those who conquer their thoughts and live a pure life, only through them will this corrupt world be conquered for Christ.  You have a precious life before you.  A throne is waiting, a crown is waiting; and this is greater than Queen Victoria’s calling.  God is separating a group of people who can live a holy life.  The best life, the highest life, the greatest life, the greatest thing to happen in your life is to have a pure mind.  Whatever the price may be, whatever the cost, it is worth shedding even blood for this blessed truth.

What have you done for this truth?  Have you really fought for it?  Have you stood for it, or are you living a wishy-washy life?  There is a holy way of doing everything.  There is a holy way of sleeping, of dressing, of walking – there is a holy way in everything.  The Bible tells of a couple which invited Elisha to their house for a meal whenever he passed that way.  One day, after eating a meal with him, that woman told her husband, “I perceive that this is a holy man of God.”  He was only eating; but the way he was eating caused the woman to see the holiness of God in him.  This is the true characteristic of a holy man.  In everything there is a holiness.

DWELLING IN THE SPIRIT

Consider the power of purity in Daniel.  King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream but he also forgot the dream.  He brought all the wise men and wanted the wise men to tell the dream which he had forgotten, and to interpret it also.  The wise men responded, “No, please tell the dream; then we can interpret it.”  The king could not remember the dream and the wise men said that they could not do anything.  Nebuchadnezzar got very angry and said that if they could not tell him the dream and the interpretation, then all of them would be cut into pieces and their family and houses would become a dunghill.  The response of these wise men is a message to us: “It is a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none other that can show it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh” (Dan 2:11).  The wise men said that nobody who lives in the flesh will be able to interpret the dream and therefore to know the dream and to interpret it is impossible.   However, there are some saints, some gods whose dwelling is not in the flesh.  There was one person, who was not dwelling in the flesh.  Who was that?  Daniel.  He was not dwelling in the flesh but he was dwelling in the spirit.  God revealed to Daniel the dream of Nebuchadnezzar and God revealed its interpretation.  God also revealed the worrisome thoughts that the king had while he was going to bed.  Because of this, all the wise men that were going to be killed, were instead spared.

God needs a Daniel today.  This world is going to face a great judgment and the king of this world, the ruler of this world, the devil wants to kill all the wise men.  Only those who do not dwell in the flesh, those who dwell in the spirit, can rescue these wise men that are already condemned by the devil to destruction.  Today God is calling; will you be that one Daniel?  Just one person with God is a majority.  Today will you really tell the Lord, “Lord I want victory over my thoughts, I want to be a holy man.”                - - - - End.
